A 3 year old female entire Ball Python presented for abdominal swelling. She recently laid a clutch of eggs which were removed from the enclosure. She had 4 eggs in her first clutch. She is acting normally.
Question:
Take a look at the radiograph. How many eggs do you see and are there any complications?
Answer:
Within the mid-coelom there are two eggs present. The shell of both eggs exhibits relatively faint mineralisation in some areas (considered within normal limits), however both eggs are similar in size and maintain a normal ovoid shape (teal ovals). There is preservation of the coelomic contrast (burgundy arrows); therefore no overt rupture is identified. The remainder of the study is unremarkable.
